ICP-OES & ICP-MS Instrument Analyst

Our instrument analysts are responsible for generating high-quality geochemical data using a suite of state-of-the-art equipment that includes ICP-MS, ICP-OES, and AAS instrumentation. The said technician will maintain, calibrate, and operate the equipment as assigned, and actively participate in Paragon’s proactive system of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental state and federal regulations and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize safety as the organization’s highest priority
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on analytical equipment including ICP-MS, ICP-OES, and AA platforms
  • Prepare calibration standards making sure the instrument/standards pass the system suitability test before runs
  • Tune Instruments and run daily performance verifications.
  • Proactively monitor instrument performance to ensure the highest standards of data quality are met.
  • Review QA/QC of the data generated and provide stage 1 validation of customer data.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, respectful working environment by practicing good housekeeping.

Qualifications

  • An equivalent combination of education and relative work experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in chemistry is a plus but not required.
  • Experience operating one or more of the following analytical instruments (experience with Agilent branded equipment is considered an asset) – ICP-MS, ICP-OES, AA
  • Experience using analytical balances and pipettes for the serial dilution of calibration standards.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment (Agilent and LECO equipment experience is an asset)
  • Experience performing quality control evaluation of analytical data.
  • Capable and willing to work in a respectful and collaborative professional environment that is focused on delivering quality data to our clients.
